Tech Giants Backing Ex-OpenAI Scientist's New AI Startup

Alphabet and Nvidia have joined the billionaires' club investing in Safe Superintelligence (SSI), a startup that's barely old enough to crawl but already valued like it's running marathons. Co-founded by Ilya Sutskever, who ditched his role as OpenAI's chief scientist faster than you can say "corporate drama," SSI has somehow convinced the tech world's biggest players to open their wallets just months after launching. Google's parent company Alphabet is even selling SSI access to their special AI chips called TPUs, presumably at prices that would make your graphics card weep.

This investment frenzy shows that tech giants are back to their favorite hobby: throwing mountains of data center & chip capacity at promising “AI startups” - and call it “investment”.
